The Story
Charlotte Obeng was a radiant force of intellect, compassion, and purpose. Born on December 9, 1992, she was the only child of Madam Comfort Nyador and the late Mr. Paul Victor Obeng, a distinguished Ghanaian engineer and statesman. From her earliest days, Charlotte embodied a rare blend of brilliance, humility, and joy — qualities that would define her life and legacy.
A Scholar of Distinction
Charlotte’s academic journey was marked by excellence and insatiable curiosity:
- She began her education at St. Lucia Daycare and Little Flower Montessori, continuing through Christ the King School in Accra.
- At Wesley Girls Senior High School, she served as a Volunteer Peer Counsellor, graduating in 2011.
- She earned a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from KNUST in 2014.
- She pursued two Master’s degrees:
- Actuarial Science at Heriot-Watt University, Scotland
- Information and Communication Technology at Ball State University, Indiana, USA
- Charlotte also completed advanced certificate programs in corporate finance, financial modeling, and professional ethics, and participated in global workshops focused on trade, technology, and rural development.
A Career of Purpose
Charlotte’s professional life reflected her commitment to innovation, mentorship, and service:
- At KPMG, she led strategic initiatives for banks and government agencies, including the 2021 Advisory Innovation Challenge.
- At Ball State University, IN, United States of America, she served as a Web Designer, Digital Marketing Strategist, and Graduate Assistant, earning the Center for Information and Communication Sciences (CICS) Award in 2023.
- She taught as an Adjunct IT Faculty at Ivy Tech Community College, IN, United States of America and contributed as a Student Researcher with the Action Research Collective.
- She was appointed to the Board of Directors at Count Us Indiana, where she also completed a fellowship in Racial Justice and Accessibility.

Charlotte was a dynamic leader and a gifted technologist:

Charlotte’s spirit was magnetic. She was known for her bright smile, her kindness, and her unwavering belief in the power of community. She brought joy to every space she entered — whether organizing holiday gatherings, mentoring peers, or simply sharing a meal. Her interests included:

- Spending time with her beloved dog, Axel
- Volunteering with groups like United Way, creating literacy kits and blankets for children in need
A Legacy That Lives On
Charlotte passed away on June 1, 2024, following an asthma attack. Though her time on earth was brief, her impact was profound. She poured herself into others, uplifted communities, and inspired countless lives through her brilliance and compassion.
In her honor, we’ve founded The Charlotte Obeng STEM Initiative — a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs for girls in Ghana. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and community partnerships, we aim to continue Charlotte’s legacy of excellence, equity, and joy.
Her light lives on in every girl who dares to dream, every student who reaches for more, and every community that believes in the power of education.
